He took over the ownership of the company in 1983, buying out Bear Floor Sanding and changing the name to Mid-Ohio Hardwood Floors. In 2005, the company was renamed The Ohio Floor Company to better express the growth the company has made over the years. Under Steve’s leadership the company has grown into much more than just a simple hardwood flooring company.
Steve started working in the construction field when he was 15 years old, and soon realized he had a real entrepreneurial spirit. He loves being a true craftsman. Even though his current role as President and General Manager often takes him away from the daily job site, his real love is being hands on with projects and figuring out how things work better.
Steve is not all work, he loves spending time with his family. Hunting trips with the boys is high on his list of fun things to do. He and Ellen enjoy spending days with their four grandchildren. He also enjoys traveling, when the kids were young it was not uncommon to load them up and hit the road, traveling across America. He and Ellen have also had the privilege of visiting Europe recently. Steve has also had the chance to visit Mexico, Honduras, and Costa Rica while on mission trips. When he can find the time he also enjoys a good book, always wanting to expand his knowledge.
Another passion in his life is helping people find a better way of life. He puts this passion into practice by serving as co-pastor at Oasis Tabernacle Church in Sugarcreek, Ohio. He has served in this position for the past 25 years.
Jon and his wife Heather have been married for 5 years and currently live in Apple Creek, Ohio. Jon grew up in Holmes County where he attended Berlin Elementary School and then was home schooled.
Jon enjoys traveling; he and Heather have had the opportunity to travel “across the pond” recently, visiting Ireland, Scotland, and England. Jon says, “some of the most memorable moments from my travels was seeing the rugged beauty of The Cliffs of Moher in Western Ireland and standing on the Swilcan Bridge at St. Andrews Links in Scotland.” He also enjoys good friends. Spending time grilling in the back yard, playing softball, and chasing the golf ball in and out of the woods.
Before coming to The Ohio Floor Company Jon was the owner of a masonry company for eight years.
Jon finds great satisfaction in his work. He loves the challenge of optimizing company success by managing the work force. “The daily challenge of placing the employees in the proper positions, being efficient, while helping them to maintain excellent workmanship and finding satisfaction in their work. That is what motivates me each day,” Jon says.
Heather has been married to Jon Miller for 5 years. She and Jon share their home in Apple Creek with Felix, their gray Tabby cat.
Heather attended Gospel Haven Academy in Millersburg, Ohio, where she not only received a great academic education but also learned about Gods love for her and His principles that help guide her life.
Heather leads a very active life. Her hobbies include running, playing volleyball, crocheting, and tickling the ivory. But her real love is traveling. As a child she remembers fondly the many trips she got to take with her family. Those trips have allowed her the privilege of visiting almost every state in the Continental United States. In 2016, she and Jon had the opportunity to travel internationally for the first time, they visited Ireland. They got the bug for traveling abroad and since that first trip to Ireland they have been able to visit Scotland and England, and hope to visit many more places in the future.

I am so thankful that I have a job with people who share my values in faith and work ethic, and that they have allowed me to hold the flexible position I currently hold. The first two years I was mainly the front desk personnel, but I also did a lot of work with designing the gym floors that we painted for schools and sports venues. The art design was my favorite task and I really enjoyed the creative aspect of the work.”
